This is the Way

Published 4 September 2025 | Star Wars: The Deckbuilding Game This is the Way Announcing a New Faction Pack for Star Wars™: The Deckbuilding Game Back when it first launched, Star Wars™: The Deckbuilding Game brought the iconic clash between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance to the table, allowing players to recreate the legendary conflict with easy-to-learn yet strategic card game action. Just a year later, we released the Clone Wars Edition for the game, adding the Galactic Republic and the Separatist Confederacy as playable factions and providing an additional entry point for players looking to dive into the game. Today, we’re introducing a fifth faction to the game, one that is sure to shake up the dynamic and open up even more possible experiences at the table. Fantasy Flight Games is thrilled to announce the Mandalorian Faction Pack for Star Wars: The Deckbuilding Game! The first of its kind, this expansion provides everything you need to add the Mandalorian faction to your collection*. Featuring iconic characters, a unique playstyle, and some tools and rules for a new three-player free-for-all mode, this pack is a must-have for any fan of the game. Read on to find out what this expansion has in store! *Note: Unlike the Clone Wars Edition that came before it, the Mandalorian Faction Pack is not a standalone product. You’ll need either the original edition or the Clone Wars Edition of the game in order to play! Following the Way As a single-faction expansion, the Mandalorian Faction Pack provides everything you need to play as the Mandalorian faction in the game, including 10 base cards, 10 starter cards, 30 galaxy cards, and their own Force track. The Mandalorian starter cards have the same distribution of abilities and effects as previous factions. They begin the game with their deck consisting of two Mandalorian Soldiers $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#105C5').colorbox(opts); }); , seven Mandalorian Shuttles $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#10B72').colorbox(opts); }); , and a single Child of the Watch $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#BF16').colorbox(opts); }); . With these, you have the same starting point as if you were playing with one of the other factions, but that’s where the similarities end. As a warrior faction largely consisting of mercenaries and bounty hunters, it makes sense that many of the Mandalorian units are less concerned about having the Force on their side when compared to other groups in the galaxy. In fact, one of the key aspects to the Mandalorians’ playstyle involves gaining bonus effects while the Force marker is on the neutral space of the Force track. For example, the Clan Kryze Commando $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#5D79').colorbox(opts); }); is a low-cost unit that can deal 2 damage normally, but if the Force tracker is on the neutral space, then the Commando can deal 2 extra damage directly to your opponent’s base—bypassing any defenses they may have! Similarly, the Protectorate Fighter $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#4BB5').colorbox(opts); }); adds itself to your hand upon purchase, and if the Force marker is on the neutral space, you get to draw a bonus card alongside it. These effects can help you gain some momentum in the early game, and once you get to the late game, you can take advantage of a neutral Force marker to wield mighty effects like The Armorer $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#164FD').colorbox(opts); }); repairing 5 damage off your base or Din’s Starfighter $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#18604').colorbox(opts); }); instantly destroying an enemy capital ship. With all these kickers rewarding you when the Force marker is in a neutral position, you’ll naturally want to keep it there as long as possible. Thankfully, the Mandalorian faction has plenty of tools to help you do that. Units like the Balutar Swoop Rider $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#1839A').colorbox(opts); }); can move the marker 1 space toward neutral position regardless of which side it was on, while units like Axe Woves $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#F5CC').colorbox(opts); }); and Mandalorian Hunter $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#462B').colorbox(opts); }); can move the marker to the neutral space directly. Keeping the Force marker at the neutral space does mean that you’ll be giving up the potential bonus resource from starting your turn with it all the way on your side; fortunately, units like Survivor Langskib $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#F51E').colorbox(opts); }); and Koska Reeves $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#7A75').colorbox(opts); }); can get you some extra resources to work with to help compensate for this. Of course, this focus on “Force neutrality” is not the only defining feature of the Mandalorian faction in this game; they also have an emphasis on Bounty Hunter and Trooper units. Units like Foundling $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#146D4').colorbox(opts); }); and the Razor Crest $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#11644').colorbox(opts); }); let you add Bounty Hunter or Trooper units you purchase directly into your hand, potentially letting you get immediate use out of someone like a Mandalorian Hijacker $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#3AE0').colorbox(opts); }); (who could then capture a capital ship for you) or even The Mandalorian $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#2CE4').colorbox(opts); }); himself. With Mando’s high attack power of 5, he can easily clear low-cost cards from the galaxy row through bounty hunting, which in turn lets him pull any card from your discard pile and put it on top of your deck (or exile it). And, naturally, this combos very well with Grogu $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#181AD').colorbox(opts); }); , who can immediately draw that card for you and help keep the momentum going! Three-for-All As we mentioned earlier, the Mandalorian Faction Pack also comes with cards and rules to support a brand-new, three-player free-for-all mode! To set up a three-player game, each player randomly divides their faction’s galaxy cards in half, mixing them together with the cards of each neighbor so that there’s a separate galaxy deck for each pairing of players (see the diagram above). You then add the 15 three-player-exclusive neutral cards (which we’ll preview in a moment) to the neutral cards from either core set of Star Wars: The Deckbuilding Game, then distribute those 45 cards up evenly among the three galaxy decks. Once everything is set up, play proceeds much like a regular one-versus-one game, but with a few key differences. First of all, each player now has two galaxy rows to work with (one for each neighbor), which opens up a lot more possible interactions and can change up certain strategies. You can attack either or both opponents’ bases during the same turn, but you can only assign each unit/capital ship to one opponent at a time, so you’ll have to carefully manage the tools you have at your disposal in order to come out on top. Finally, in order to win a three-player game, you have to destroy five enemy bases instead of three. Not only that, but you need to take out a minimum of two bases belonging to each opposing faction, so you can’t focus your fire on just one enemy all game! To help facilitate a three-player game, the Mandalorian Faction Pack includes a set of special, three-player-exclusive neutral cards, which we mentioned above. Among these are neutral base versions of Lothal $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 300, innerWidth: 418 }; $('#151BD').colorbox(opts); }); , Dantooine $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 300, innerWidth: 418 }; $('#3D9E').colorbox(opts); }); , and Concord Dawn $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 300, innerWidth: 418 }; $('#863C').colorbox(opts); }); , which players use in place of their normal starting bases. (Keep in mind that, since these are neutral bases, they don’t count toward the “two per faction” requirement you need to win!) There’s also a Pyke Repulsor Train $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#27FD').colorbox(opts); }); , a special unit card that stays in play and can be attacked for an extra card draw each turn. Finally, there are the 15 “three-player only” cards we mentioned earlier. These get mixed into the galaxy decks at random, each featuring various citizens and scoundrels of the Outer Rim, including a few familiar faces. If you’re low on resources, use the abilities of the Aqualish Raider $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#12278').colorbox(opts); }); or Peli Motto $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#6135').colorbox(opts); }); to give yourself a boost, and if you’re low on cards, call on Cobb Vanth $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#7C56').colorbox(opts); }); to give you a draw—just be wary that an opponent gets one as well, which could open the door to some negotiations at the table! Have Kuiil $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#137AF').colorbox(opts); }); set up the next draw from your deck (while also allowing an opponent to do the same), grab the exact card you need from your discard pile with Greef Karga $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#7C83').colorbox(opts); }); , and net yourself a unique unit as a reward for defeating a galaxy row target with IG-11 $(document).ready(function() { var opts = { iframe: true, innerHeight: 418, innerWidth: 300 }; $('#10DC3').colorbox(opts); }); . Utilize these outlaws and outcasts to the best of your ability and be the first to claim victory in this free-for-all! Stronger Together With the addition of the Mandalorian faction to the mix, Star Wars: The Deckbuilding Game continues to get bigger and better.
